Roosa Mikkola did a survey about people’s knowledge about flads, the small coastal lagoons typical of the northern hemisphere. Their ecological value is large and the land owners play a key role in managing the flads. It is therefore central to find out if the land owners are aware of the importance of the flads, and if they act accordingly. Flads are for example important for fish larvae production and carbon uptake. Roosa is graduating from Novia and the title of her thesis is Ecosystem services offered by flads.
